25th Birthday Contest!I'm Turning 25!
In honor of my quarter century (25 years old!) I want you to tell me what you want to accomplish by the time you are 25. If you are already 25, by the time you're 50. Older than 50, 75. Older than 75, 100. Also, if you're older than 75 you have mad props for being here.

The Catch: You can only use 25 words, and I want them to be poetic. You can use whatever format, but you have to use exactly 25 words. And they have to express your wish in a poetic manner.
The Details: Upload your entry to the correct gallery, then send the thumb or link to me in a note titled "25th Bday Contest". I will be counting words, so make sure you get exactly 25 or it will be disqualified. You can enter as many times as you wish.

PROMPT CONTEST: AUGUST 2012Each month #Shelf-of-Friends will hold a selection of prompts for group members to choose from. We hope through this that we can inspire others to write and create beautiful works.
Since this prompt is being released in the middle of June, it will be considered August's prompt and will run until the end of August.

O v e r v i e w
To invoke inspiration, we have selected a format that group members must write in; we do this in hopes of motivating members to try and expand their abilities in other forms of writing. As for the prompt, there are three things members must choose from to use in the submitted piece and to help invoke inspiration (and only one!):

What honestly humbles me the most when it comes to dA, is that even when I am doing absolutely nothing, and seldom comment on your stuff lately (It's not due to me being uninterested, I just have become super busy lately, and I need to adjust my classwork/dA work) I still average at least 50 pageviews a day. I think that is lovely. While I don't look at pageviews when it comes to popularity, it's nice that my inactivity has made it so I am not forgotten.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to announce our next contest!

Scratch That!

What the hell is a "scratch that?"

An excellent question! This is the biggest thing this group has ever done. It will be 10 rounds of tournament style writing, with varying themes and writing styles! Each round will last 2 weeks! (Dates will be posted further along in this journal.)

Anyone can enter! We're trying to make this as big as possible, so members, non-members and their dogs may enter! Bare in mind, however, that the very first round will be an audition. Only 50 people will then be selected to go through to the competition, so make sure you write to the very best of your ability!

At the end of every round, 5 people will be eliminated. We will celebrate the best poet of that round by giving them small prizes.

That sounds awesome, but what's in it for me?

The usual, of course. We want to see happy things, and for that reason we have picked not a single depressing topic for you to write about. We expect you to stay true to the themes and writing styles, and if you don't it's automatic disqualification. One submission per round. If you wish to edit your submission you must do it before the round ends. Otherwise, we take your entry as is.

Other than that, we're just looking for you to have fun with this. Explore your talent! Get into it!

Auditions start on the 20th of October and end on the 3rd of November! Get your entries in on time! (Remember all dates are GMT+10)
Auditions are whatever style you feel comfortable writing.
